The Church of All Saints, West Harling

When Nashe was six his father moved from St Margaret's, Lowestoft, which is on the Suffolk coast, to the Norfolk parish of West Harling some fifty miles inland. West Harling had more people then than now - now, to be honest, it's just some fields - but the church must have seemed small compared to Lowestoft's. But if the church was smaller the living was better - in Lowestoft William Nashe had done the work while someone else got the tithes, but little West Harling was his own domain.

I'm forced to admit that if you want better pictures of this church, including its interior, go to this site maintained by a tireless church-fancier called Simon Knott. Here you can find a little treasure trove of All Saints pics.
